President Trump agreed Friday that he will support a short-term funding bill to reopen the government that does not include funds to construct the wall that has caused the divisive party line standoff and more than a month long government shutdown.
“I am very proud to announce today that we have reached a deal to end the shutdown and re-open the federal government,” Trump said.
The president said he would sign a bill that would fund a series of agenices temporarily through February 15. During this time, he said, a bipartisan committee of House and Senate lawmakers will meet to develop a funding proposal for Homeland Security.
