The results are in after yesterday’s primary election to fill the Senate seat vacated when current U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions was appointed to office. On the Republican side, LSCU endorsed candidate and incumbent Sen. Luther Strange advanced to a runoff with former Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore. Throughout the day, League social media accounts encouraged credit unions and their members to get out and vote for Strange and he even thanked the LSCU several times for its support.

The runoff election is scheduled for Sept. 26 and Sen. Strange will continue to need the support of all Alabama credit unions and their members in order to send him back to Washington, D.C. to fight against burdensome regulations.

Democratic candidate Doug Jones, former U.S. Attorney General, swept his party’s primary and advances directly to the general election without a runoff.

The general election takes place on Dec. 12.
