Alabama’s newly elected Sen. Doug Jones (D), joins the Senate Banking Committee after an official Senate action on Tuesday. Alabama Sen. Richard Shelby (R) serves on the committee. Sen. Jerry Moran (D-KS) also joins the panel, increasing the number of members to 25. Republicans secured 13 seats, and Democrats have 12.
According to CU Journal, Mike Crapo, (R-Idaho) and Sen. Sherrod Brown, the top Democrat on the committee, issued a joint statement following the announcement saying both Moran and Jones “will provide great perspectives and a depth of knowledge to the committee, and we look forward to working with them as we address the critical issues before us.”
