The U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Community Development Financial Institutions Fund (CDFI Fund) awarded 303 Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs) $208.7 million in awards, with 55 credit unions among those receiving funds. In this group, five LSCU member credit unions received a total of $3,336,000 in grants. These were Community CU of Florida, Community South, Fairwinds, FSU CU, and GTE Financial Credit Union.

Through SECUF’s Community Development across Florida and Alabama program, the Southeastern Credit Union Foundation has been working all year to coordinate efforts to assist credit unions in applying for federal grant money through the U.S. Treasury’s program.  For more information on how to begin this process for next year and how we can assist, contact Juli Lewis or April Ales.
