Pen Air FCU Named Philanthropic Corporation of the Year

Pen Air Federal Credit Union was named the Philanthropic Corporation of the Year by the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), Northwest Florida Chapter. The National Philanthropy Day Awards Luncheon took place at the Pensacola Grand Hotel in downtown Pensacola, FL, and was presented by Gulf Power Company and Ballpoint Communications Group.

The AFP called for nominations to recognize businesses, nonprofits, organizations, and individuals who have made a significant impact in the community through philanthropic efforts. Among the nominators for Pen Air were the University of West Florida, Bear Levin Studer Family YMCA, and Ronald McDonald House Charities of Northwest Florida.

“Our mission at Pen Air is to enhance lives,” said Stu Ramsey, president and CEO of Pen Air. “I am humbled to bring this award to our employees, members, and volunteers who support our mission every day, and share a spirit of Communerosity. To know that we are truly enhancing lives in our community by receiving this award gives us so much joy.”

 

Army Aviation Center FCU Donates to Food Banks During 2017 Holiday Season

Army Aviation Center Federal Credit Union (AACFCU) donated hundreds of pounds of food to local food banks in its service areas following its annual food drive. Each October, AACFCU employees and members come together in a company-wide effort to collect food and supplies for local organizations. This year, the credit union was able to assist nine organizations in preparing for the holiday season.

Donations were given to Caring and Sharing of South Walton in Santa Rosa Beach, FL, Dale County Rescue Mission in Ozark, AL, Enterprise Christian Mission in Enterprise, AL, Feeding the Gulf Coast in Mobile, AL, Light of the World Ministries in Daleville, AL, Opp First United Methodist Church Food Pantry in Opp, AL, Pike County Salvation Army in Troy, AL, The Matrix in DeFuniak Springs, FL, and Wiregrass Area United Way Food Bank in Dothan, AL.

 

 

Svehla named to serve on CUNA Leading Council Executive Committee

The CUNA Lending Council announced its 2017-2018 Executive Committee at its 2017 CUNA Lending Council Conference in November in Nashville, TN. Dona Svehla, SVP/CLO, GTE Financial will serve on the committee.

The mission of the CUNA Councils Executive Committee is to ensure consistency in administration among Councils; share ideas between Councils to improve member benefits; support innovative networking within and across Councils; and encourage collaboration among disciplines, to identify important issues facing practitioners in the industry AND bring awareness to CUNA, CEOs, and Council members to assist in creating focus for problem solving.

 

USF FCU’s Brown wins People First Awards for human resources excellence

USF Federal Credit Union is excited to announce that Chief Talent Officer, Cheryl Brown, CHRO, won the Overall category and Accounting/Financial Services category at the inaugural People First human resources awards presented by the Tampa Bay Business Journal.

Brown, who has worked 22 years in human resources, has led numerous initiatives at the credit union to improve employee engagement and create a high-performing workforce that recognizes the value of diversity and inclusion. “Diversity is allowing someone to come to the dance and inclusion is asking them to dance,” she said.

“Cheryl has been a key member of the senior management team and serves as a trusted advisor to the board of directors,” USF FCU president and CEO Richard J. Skaggs said. “She participates in the strategic planning process that charts the long-term initiatives for the ongoing success of the organization.”

Among her many achievements at USF FCU, Brown has introduced the national framework of the Malcolm Baldrige Excellence Award to the credit union and created a systematic approach to employee pay and recognition that emphasized a pay for performance culture.
