Avadian Credit Union teaches kids value of money

Avadian Credit Union partnered with Forest Oaks Elementary School in Chelsea, AL, to teach kids the value of saving money. To kick off the 2017-2018 school year, the teachers and administrators of Forest Oaks Elementary decided to turn a typical school fundraiser into a financial learning experience for their students.

Avadian introduced the students to their Kids Savings School program and held sessions on the importance of saving money. To help the kids with their fundraising initiative, Avadian donated individual piggy banks so each student could collect and save money for the drive. In just five days of the students working and saving, they met their goal and saved/raised a total of $15,000. All funds raised will go to purchase a brand new mobile Chrome cart with 30 chrome books for their third-grade wing.

CFE FCU supports community after hurricane

As the community begins to recover from Hurricane Irma, CFE Federal Credit Union in Florida has come together to offer support to those still facing challenges in the wake of Hurricane Irma. CFE has offered one-on-one assistance to members in financial distress and provided payment extensions when needed. Employees have also worked late into the night to restore services and to ensure the functionality of online banking.

CFE has also launched other initiatives to benefit the credit union’s employees still affected by the storm. On Sept.14 and Sept. 15, CFE initiated a “jeans day” fundraiser, collecting donations to assist staff members facing storm-related challenges. In addition to other projects and benefits, CFE employees in need also were able to cash in up to five days of accrued sick or vacation time to receive up to 120 hours of pay.
