The second annual CUNA Emerging Leader Institute will be held Dec. 3-5 in Austin, TX. New and experienced leaders will gather to network and gain fundamental insights into credit union leadership.
“If you have been a manager for a long time, are just entering the management area, or fall anywhere in-between, you need to go to this conference,” said Kelly McDonnell, branch manager at Educators Credit Union. “You deserve to take a moment to focus on how to be the best version of you to be the leader that your staff deserves.”
The three-day course consists of two leadership assessments to identify key strengths and weaknesses, discussions to become familiar with the common challenges of leadership and leadership knowledge courses to help attendees lead their teams, influence others and build strong relationships.
The institute also features the CUNA Emerging Leader Award. Endorsed by the CUNA Young Professionals Committee, this award honors an exceptional credit union employee who consistently demonstrates leadership and passion in furthering the “people helping people” philosophy in the credit union movement. The recipient of this award will receive a complimentary registration to CUNA Emerging Leader Institute and a three-night hotel stay at the Hilton.
“When stepping into your first leadership role, it’s important to have a sense of what your strengths and weaknesses are and learn how to leverage both effectively,” said Kristin Ryan, director of learning events at CUNA. “At this event, young and emerging leaders can build a strong foundation of leadership knowledge, preparing them for upcoming challenges and helping them select an effective leadership style, while experienced leaders can refresh and renew their knowledge in a changing workplace environment.”
