Join #CreditUnionsCareChallenge to make a difference in your community

PriorityONE Credit Union of Florida employees spent their funds to support Bare Bones BBQ.

In the midst of pandemic pressure on local businesses, credit unions are responding to a “Challenge” set forth by the Southeastern Credit Union Foundation (SECUF), and our credit union people in all three states are truly helping people. The SECUF invited all LSCU affiliated credit unions in Alabama, Florida and Georgia to take on the #CreditUnionsCareChallenge, and the response has been terrific!

To support their local economy, credit unions commit at least $25 per employee who will then use the money at a locally owned business via online options, while adhering to social distancing protocols.

Auburn University Credit Union’s Candace was happy to spend her funds supporting Chappy’s Deli.

To double the impact, SECUF is committed to matching the contribution by member credit unions up to $25 per employee. These matched funds will be donated to local community organizations, selected by the participating credit union.

Already, the SECUF has matched $148,680, and the total impact from the SECUF and credit unions combined is $370,880! We aren’t done yet, and you can still join!

The SECUF began this initiative to answer the challenge put forth by Tallahassee-based First Commerce Credit Union in its ambitious #LocalStrong campaign. The credit union utilized this campaign to distribute more than $4,000 among more than 150 team members to spend with local businesses.

We extend heartfelt thanks to Premier Donor Corporate America CU for contributing $100,000! Our Supporter-Level Sponsor is CUNA Mutual Group. Supporting Friends are: Catalyst Corporate FCU, Corporate One FCU, Sorenson Van Leuven, PLLC, Symitar, Evans, Simpson & Associates, Inc.

“We are so proud of the support we have received from sponsors and from credit unions in our three states,” said SECUF Director Juli Lewis. “We know how difficult this pandemic has been on small businesses, and every bit of support they receive makes a difference to the bottom line for their companies. We want them to see how credit unions truly believe in “people helping people,” and I feel strongly that we can have an impact on helping them keep their doors open as we move through this crisis.”

Thank you to all of our participating credit unions:
