The LSCU sponsored last night’s Florida senate debate which saw Republican Sen. Marco Rubio and Democratic Rep. Patrick Murphy clash over issues such as the economy, foreign affairs, and healthcare. The second and final debate was held at Broward College in Davie, FL, and was hosted by Leadership Florida and the Florida Press Association.
With less than two weeks left before Election Day, this was the last chance for voters to hear the different views on the issues from each candidate. Floridians who tuned in saw a 15-second advertisement touting the credit union difference, along with several mentions of credit unions throughout the debate.
The debate was carried live on local networks in the state, C-SPAN, Florida Public Radio, and streamed live on the internet. A number of credit union officials attended the event, along with members of the advocacy team and LSCU President/CEO Patrick La Pine.
