Credit Union National Association President/CEO Jim Nussle is urging credit union advocates to make their voices heard on bipartisan legislation S.2155 – the Economic Growth, Regulatory Relief, and Consumer Protection Act. Weeks after CUNA and the Independent community Bankers of America (ICBA) wrote to House leadership urging passage of the bill, several House leaders signaled toward a May vote at the Milken Institute 21st Global Conference in Beverly Hills, California.

“S.2155 is bipartisan, common-sense reform legislation that will protect seniors from elder abuse, make mortgage processing easier and quicker, increase affordable rental housing in our communities, and help credit unions provide better service to their members,” the update reads.

This is a bipartisan bill that will benefit credit unions in a number of ways, from simplifying the mortgage process to allowing credit unions to report suspected elder financial abuse.

CUNA’s  Campaign for Common-Sense Regulation continues to propel forward as the national grassroots strategy for regulatory relief in the House has been activated.
