The third day of CUNA GAC was full of activity and energy beginning with the unveiling of a new credit union awareness campaign during the opening general session. The campaign “Open your eyes to a credit union” was created based on two years of research showing that consumers are aware of credit unions but are hampered by myths about their ability to join and security and accessibility to their money and services.
Another highlight of the day included a town hall meeting with CUNA’s President/CEO Jim Nussle. Nussle welcomed the group and opened the floor for dialogue ranging from the current climate on regulation to connecting with Millennials in today’s market.
Later in the day, the LSCU hosted a reception preparing attendees to Hike the Hill today, culminating a week of advocacy efforts. Visits have been scheduled to meet with all of Alabama and Florida’s legislative offices to talk about credit union issues including ADA website lawsuits, member data security, and preserving the credit union tax status.
