In its annual list of Washington’s top lobbyists, The Hill newspaper has once again named CUNA President/CEO Jim Nussle to its recognition.
“The former House Budget Committee chairman is a big reason why credit unions exert such influence on financial regulations,” The Hill noted in its description of Nussle.
Nussle has made The Hill’s list in the association category since taking over the helm of CUNA in 2014.
Among CUNA’s 2017 advocacy priorities are reducing the regulatory burden for credit unions; expanding credit union powers, such as business lending; enhancing payments security and preserving the credit union tax status.
CUNA key legislative victories in 2017 include passage of a bill that exempts the NCUA from the appropriation process; the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s (CFPB) final short-term, small dollar rule, which addresses many credit union concerns; and repeal of the CFPB’s arbitration rule.
The Hill’s list of top lobbyists is created based on conversations with aides, other lobbyists and members of Congress. The newspaper covers lobbying and Capitol Hill activities. It is read largely by congressional members, their staff and lobbying organizations. Read the full article here.
