Tallahassee LeonThe city of Tallahassee, along with businesses like Tallahassee-Leon FCU, will once again give local youth the chance to gain real world experience by taking part in the Future Leaders Academy. The second year of the program will see more support from the local business community.

Students that take part in the academy will be paired up with businesses that will help them grow in leadership, professionalism, and financial literacy. Tallahassee-Leon FCU is a driving force behind the academy, as well as holding its highly successful Mini Billionaires Academy Summer Camp.

“At the Tallahassee-Leon Federal Credit Union, we believe in helping to develop our community’s future leaders,” said Lisa Brown, president/CEO. “We are proud to stand with the City of Tallahassee in helping our area’s young people learn skills that will help them in today’s competitive workforce.”

Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum said that “hiring these youths for the summer, businesses will provide a spring board that will propel them into becoming productive, well-rounded adults.”

With April being Financial Literacy Month, the kick off of this summer event was perfect timing. You can read more on WCTV’s website.
