This week, both the House and Senate are in session. Starting Wednesday, House Democrats will hold their winter retreat. The House is expected to consider the “Mortgage Choice Act of 2017” (H.R. 1153); the “Common Sense Nutrition Disclosure Act of 2017” (H.R. 772); and a “Continuing Resolution” to fund the government.
The Senate will consider the nomination of Andrei Iancu to be Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and Director of the United States Patent and Trademark Office and will consider a “Continuing Resolution” to fund the government.
Federal government funding ends Thursday at midnight. The House is expected to vote another CR to fund the government through March 2 or March 22.
In addition, the Congress must pass legislation to raise the debt ceiling in the first half of March.
Also, Ways and Means Republicans will meet for their policy retreat at the Library of Congress today to discuss their legislative priorities for the year, including how to work with Treasury and the IRS on guidance for the recently enacted Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.
