This week in Washington, the House will not be in session Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday to accommodate the House Republican retreat. The House Democratic retreat will occur next Thursday and Friday

Federal spending authority ends on Feb. 8 so Congressional leadership will be working on an agreement to fund the federal government for the remainder of fiscal year 2018. This week, the Senate will consider the nomination of David Ryan Stras of Minnesota to be United States Circuit Judge for the Eighth Circuit.

Also of note, on Friday afternoon, a federal district court in Virginia threw out a lawsuit brought against a credit union alleging website accessibility issues under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The court also expressly held that a website is not a place of public accommodation, taking the approach that a place of public accommodation must be a brick-and-mortar location.
