Cheaha Chapter receives advocacy update at August meeting
Sardis High School winnersOn Aug. 19, Blake Westbrook, the LSCU’s political action and grassroots manager for Alabama, spoke to the Cheaha Chapter of credit unions about the League’s advocacy efforts and provided a federal and state legislative update. The meeting, held at Silver Lake Golf Course in Gadsden, packed the dining space with credit union professionals from throughout the area. Gina Turner of Alabama Teachers Credit Union led the gathering.

Also at the event, a Children’s Miracle Network representative expressed appreciation to the chapter for a significant donation of proceeds from the group’s fundraising golf tournament. In addition, members of the Cheaha Chapter’s winning Financial Fitness team from Sardis High School, who competed at the Southeastern Credit Union Conference and Expo in June, were recognized for consistency as top performers in the competition.

The evening concluded with multiple door prizes awarded to attendees.

 

CU Professional celebrates passing re-certification exam

ēCO Credit Union Foundation hosts the Magic City Money Matters
eCO credit union region fieldIn an effort to increase its reach and impact, the ēCO Credit Union Foundation hosted the first Magic City Money Matters Financial Conference. The conference took place on Aug. 8 at Regions Field. During the conference, attendees had the opportunity to hear from CBS 42’s Chief Meteorologist, Ashley Gann and keynote speaker and author of Broke Millennial Erin Lowry.

From millennial ēCO members seeking to learn how to better handle their finances to educators hoping to learn and grow as they spread financial education in their classroom, the event drew a wide range of attendees. After the conference, attendees moved to the Home Run Porch to enjoy networking, dinner, and a Barons baseball game.

In 2015, ēCO Credit Union created the ēCO Credit Union Foundation to help increase its financial education outreach. The ēCO Credit Union Foundation’s mission is to make financial education resources available to people of all ages and demographics, specifically in the areas served by ēCO Credit Union. Since its start, the ēCO Credit Union Foundation has already reached thousands of people with valuable financial lessons.
