Five Star Continues to invest in Dothan by opening two new branches

five star signFive Star Credit Union continues its investment in Dothan by opening two new branches in the coming months with anticipated openings late in the first quarter of 2019. Five Star is currently under construction with the new structures – one on 231 South near the south Wal-Mart and the other on Murphy Mill Road near the north Wal-Mart. The completion of these new locations will bring the total number of Five Star branches to 17 across southeast Alabama and southern Georgia.

“Five Star is firmly planted in the Wiregrass,” said Bob Steensma, president/CEO, Five Star Credit Union. “Our roots sprouted in Cedar Springs, GA, and southwest Georgia, and later in Dothan. By expanding in Dothan, we want our members and potential members to know that Five Star believes in them, and we are making it even easier for our members to reach us. Five Star wants to help them succeed financially.”

The two new branches will be the most technologically advanced branches Five Star operates. Each new location will be equipped with interactive teller machines (ITMs) in both the lobby and in the drive-up lanes. The ITMs will enable Five Star members the ability to withdraw cash, make deposits with cash and checks, research Five Star account balances, and make Five Star loan payments. The ITMs will also offer on-demand live remote video assistance during business hours. The ITMs in the drive thru will have the same robust functionality as the in-branch ITMs.

“This will add a level of convenience for members so they can transact their financial business on their schedule. It’s just another way we make it easy for them,” said Steensma.

Three new hires at Alabama One Credit Union share common goal

logoAlabama One Credit Union celebrates continued growth in the financial services market by adding three new team members to their roster. Recently hired were Dantrel Robinson, marketing manager; Bobby Umfress, senior network engineer; and Chynell Berry, learning and development manager.

“Training is really the foundation of quality customer support,” Berry says. “We share a common philosophy and goals, which translates to a consistent experience for every member.”

Robinson brings a wide range of experience in both traditional and trending marketing efforts. In the last 10 years, Robinson has contributed to the growth of a large faith-based organization, seeing its social media and app-based engagement grow by as much as 50 percent in less than one year. He also led creative teams of copy-writers, designers, and editors at multiple levels, executing marketing plans on both local and global levels. Robinson has been involved in efforts ranging from launching a successful digital media agency to curating social media content for the Grammy Awards.

Umfress brings nearly 20 years of experience in the field of networking and systems administration to his position. Most recently serving as an IT Operations Manager, Umfress prepared IT budgets, consolidated and streamlined work flow, and managed all help desk services.

Berry brings a strong background in corporate training in the financial industry. Having secured credentials as a master instructional designer and a synchronous trainer, Berry has spent the last seven years working alongside sales and support efforts at a credit union outside the Alabama market. Her efforts during that time included training initiatives to meet sales, support, and regulatory goals.
