Several LSCU staff members, including Juli Lewis, director of the Southeastern Credit Union Foundation, have made trips to the areas hit the hardest to take supplies, assist in getting the credit unions repaired, and able to assist members as quickly as possible.

“I can’t even describe the devastation, even after watching the news and seeing many pictures,” Juli said. “There are power lines laying all over the place, no water, limited supplies, limited stores open, very few gas stations (I only saw two open and the lines to get gas were a mile long), increasing crime, trains turned on their side, houses ripped apart, trees snapped in half or uprooted all together … it goes on and on. One lady hugged me tight and said I was an absolute angel when I gave her a bag of pet food yesterday. The only thing keeping them going is the hope and support they are receiving from people like all of us.”

Juli is now helping by manually taking grant requests to get funds to the employees immediately for critical needs. Please let credit union employees and volunteers know this service is available.

  1. If you were personally impacted by Hurricane Michael (anything from water seeping into your home, tree falling on your house, roof damage or even a power outage, which caused all of your food in the refrigerator and freezer to spoil), please fill out a disaster relief grant request. You can find them HERE. The Southeastern Credit Union Foundation is here to help employees and volunteers in the CU industry
  2. If you would like to be able to help, not only disaster relief but all of the great initiatives through the Southeastern Credit Union Foundation, please contact Juli Lewis.
